The Name Game

WEEK 32
What's in a name? Um, letters?!?
Seriously, this has got to be the hardest part of the whole pregnancy for me!! There's so much to consider, so much that needs to be avoided. For instance:

1. Child may grow to hate own name
2. Child may get beat-up
3. Grandparents may like name

Although we have begun to get a little more serious about naming our little Brykbaby, at this point, it's best if we just share some of the pet names we lovingly call the little nibblet on a day-to-day basis. In no order:
Boo Boo
Boobies
Monkey Nut (aka Monkey Butt)
Snickerdoo
Beef
Fatty Bumbalatty
Little Shrimpy

My husband would like you to know that two (boy) names he is fond of at this point are Bubba Ganoush Brykman and Leonardo Da Brykman.

Vim Time

WEEK 30
Our last Dr.'s visit was yet another quick one. The doc commented that I seemed very "perky" compared to her other patients. Then she measured my Butterball© belly, recommended a pediatrician, and that was that.

What can I say? I feel fantastic...um, that is until about 5:30 am each morning, when my hips fall asleep!! But she doesn't take appointments that early, so she never gets to see the "unperky" me. Only my husband does.

We now begin our bi-monthly visits, hopefully with the same vim. Or is that vimminess?

Hippybirthing

WEEK 29
We're moving into the last trimester!

Steve and I started our Hypnobirthing class on Monday. For those unfamiliar, Hypnobirthing is a method that uses meditation for a relaxed, natural childbirth. Another component to Hypnobirthing is language. For example, they took words like "Labor" and "Contractions" and renamed them "Birthing" and "Surges" to make them less daunting. They played a couple videos at the session. It was very interesting to watch births without all the drama we've come to expect...thank you, Hollywood. These mothers were eerily calm through the entire birthing. Way cool!! For months now, I have been visualizing the Brykbaby birth to be ethereal and dreamlike. I can hear my sister snickering right about now...

The baby is super-active. Steve's panicking that this is a sign the baby itself will be as active (not taking after father much.) I'm guessing it's mainly because, at this stage, he/she is the perfect size to be doing the most elaborate stunts. My favorite is in the morning when the baby wakes up and takes a few huge stretches. Sometimes when I look down, my belly looks like a giant egg, rocking back and forth, about to crack down the middle and hatch a little birdie. Hysterical!!

Watch Your Fingers!

WEEK 29
The other night I had a dream about our new baby. I dreamt the baby was, oh, a month or so old, and that it (the baby didn't have a particular sex that I remember) was a compulsive biter. I had to be careful showing the baby to people because it had a tendency to go for the fingers. In the dream, I'd warn folks when I handed over the baby, "Be careful!" and I had to keep admonishing it, "Hey! No biting. Bad baby!" etc. The critter bit my fingers, too, along with everybody else's, though not so hard as to draw blood or anything.

Anybody know what it means? As far as I'm aware, newborns don't even have teeth! Maybe my social-worker mom will have some ideas and will LEAVE A COMMENT FOR GOD'S SAKE!

PS: Not to mention, I spent my hard-earned time putting that 'Guess the Sex' poll up there. So what are you all waiting for? Vote!!
